Eco-Friendly Pre-Installation Protector Against Efflorescence

FILA PW10 is a water-based, anti-efflorescence protector applied to the back of tiles and absorbent slabs before installation. By preventing contaminants such as salts, tannins and iron compounds from migrating from the substrate to the surface of the material, it stops marks and stains from forming. It has water-repellent and consolidating properties and makes walls and coverings water-repellent.

It does not form a film on the surface and allows the material to breathe. According to the UNI EN 1348-2009 and ASTM C482-02 R-2009 standards, it does not significantly alter the bonding properties of the adhesive. When applied to natural stone, concrete and other absorbent materials after installation, it prevents blackening caused by air pollution, carbonation, sulphation and biological deterioration. Suitable for natural stone, granite, marble, agglomerates and terracotta, PW10 is classified A+ under the French VOC regulation.

4-Step Application

Application

Prepare the Surface

Carefully clean the face of the tile or slab to be treated, removing all dust and residues; make sure the surface is dry and free of moisture. The product is ready to use; do not dilute.
Pre-Installation Application

For protection on 5 faces, apply the product to the back and the four edges in a continuous, even layer with a flat brush, by spraying or with an airless system. In conditions of high humidity, for protection on 6 faces, apply a single coat to all faces or dip the material in the product for approximately 30 seconds; do not allow the product to build up.
Allow to Dry

Only lay the material once it is completely dry: wait approximately 12 hours at 20-40 °C and approximately 24 hours at 10-20 °C. Choose the adhesive best suited to the type of installation.
Post-Installation Protection

To make the front face water-repellent, apply the product with a brush, by spraying or with an airless system, letting it soak in until the material is saturated; remove the excess by dabbing with a clean cloth before it dries. The surface dries after 6 hours.

Points to Consider

To use the product safely and at maximum efficiency, please read the following points carefully before application.

On polished surfaces, pay particular attention to the application method so that the product does not seep onto the front face and cause stains; do not apply the product to the front face of polished surfaces.
It is recommended that you confirm with the manufacturer the adhesive suited to the intended use of the material.
On materials with a resin-coated and/or mesh-backed rear face, PW10 must be applied only to the edges and the top surface.
Spray and airless application is for professional use only; the appropriate personal protective equipment specified in the Safety Data Sheet must be used.
Sensitive to frost; keep out of the reach of children and do not release into the environment after use.
Storage: 5-30 °C; surface during application: 10-30 °C.
